Selective processing and prominence

 Specialized processing looks at an original photo and makes the figures more prominent (stands out from the background) and less prominent (blends into the background).

This is one of the images from the summer looking at people shopping on the streets of Mansfield.

Darkened with levels

 The darker image focus more on the two ladies, making them stand out more. I could also achieve this effect with curves in Photoshop. As I moved the levels slider bar, I noticed that the outside of the image became darker leaving the bright people in the centre. The lady on the left stands out well in this image, although the lady on the right starts to blend into the background.The street looks narrower than in the second image.

Lightened with levels

This image has been lightened with levels. The lady on the left this time starts to blend in with the paving and buildings. This image starts to become overexposed. The street looks wider and longer than in the image above, because the dark shadows have been lightened and the windows of the shop fronts are reflect more light.
